SHERWOOD GARDENS | SARAH & BRIAN | BALTIMORE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

RULE BREAKER

Sarah and Brian are both graduate students at Johns Hopkins. The university hosts all sorts of social events, and on a particular evening-speed dating was on the agenda. With a $10 open bar, it was easy to say yes to. While the event might have brought them together anyway, a mutual friend was responsible for introducing this pair.

Brian and Sarah met during open socializing before the speed dating event. Brian remembers thinking there was immediately something there, but Sarah was the one to make the first move. It was early in the night, but Sarah asked for Brian’s number. Despite this being against the rules-she admits it was totally worth it.

THE TALK

A month had come and gone since Sarah and Brian met. They attended a friend’s party together, which had come to be the norm. During the festivities, many approached with questions about their relationship status. Sarah used the opportunity to “check in.” The two had a quick chat and made things official.

P.S. I LOVE YOU

Two years passed quickly. Brian and Sarah were spending most of their time together at this point. It was a natural point in their relationship to discuss marriage. So, they did. They both expressed excitement for a future together, but made no engagement official.

One day, Brian asked if Sarah would like to go look at engagement rings. Together, they picked out the perfect one. Brian didn’t mention it any further. He made his own plan, and Sarah waited patiently for the perfect moment.

Enter Brian-some time later. It’s a beautiful morning and Sarah is awakened to breakfast in bed. Eggs Benedict, to be exact. Sarah’s favorite.

Later that day, the couple would visit Cylburn Arboretum for a picnic. It was during the lunch that Brian brought out a letter. He read it to Sarah, romantically setting the scene for a proposal. He pulled out the ring at the end and popped the question. It was a beautiful moment that they later celebrated with family and friends.

FIVE FUN FACTS

  1. Sarah and Brian are getting married on April 24th, which is Brian’s grandparent’s anniversary. How sweet?!
  2. On long drives, these two keep each other awake and alert by singing as loudly and off key as they can.
  3. Brian and Sarah are in-home foodies who love to cook together. Brian also dabbles in creating fun cocktails to accompany their meals.
  4. Their song is “A Whole New World” from Aladdin. BRB. That’s the cutest!
  5. If they could invite anyone (dead or alive) to their wedding, they would invite Mark Hamill. You know, Luke Skywalker, NO BIG DEAL.
