SQUAD GOAL GEAR | MONDAY MEMOS | MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

It’s time to start thinking about getting ready for your wedding. You’ve chosen the gown, the venue, and you’ve (of course) hired me as your photographer! Now, we can dive into the fun details. You can elaborate on your beautiful color scheme by choosing little ways to incorporate it throughout the event. From the ceremony decor to the groom’s pocket square, there are lots of ways you can infuse your personalities into your wedding.

Often times on Monday Memos, I’ll share planning advice. Today’s post is a fun share about the pre-wedding. The moments leading up to the ceremony are full of excitement and even better, you are surrounded by your best friends and closest family. A perfect bridal party gift addition is something they might wear to get ready in! Below I’ve provided some inspiration for you. There is lots of variety to match your squad’s style!

SQUAD GOAL GEAR

ROBES

This is probably the most traditional and well-known option. You can find robes in a variety of colors and patterns, ensuring you can obtain pieces that reflect your wedding scheme. Robes can also be customized with names, wedding roles, or initials. Consider adding a lace hem for a romantic vibe!

BOXERS

In an effort to mention some things we can include for the dudes, I’m dropping this one on its own. Boxers, briefs, or maybe even a pair of gym shorts would make for fun getting ready gear for the guys. Even better? All of these things work for the girls, too!

ROMPERS

Rompers have been growing in trend over the last few years. Given that you can usually step into them and pull them up, this makes them super friendly for getting ready purposes. You can avoid messing up your hair and make-up, but look fully dressed! Find a romper for everyone to match, or allow everyone to pick one they like for a coordinated but contrasting feel.

BUTTON UP’S

I think button up shirts are a little underrated. There are a lot of choices when it comes to ensuring this stacks up with your event theme. Think about it! There are plain, chambray, floral, flannel, long-sleeved, short-sleeved, and so many other endless options. These are just as easily customized as well. For a preppy wedding, consider a pastel button up with monogrammed initials for each bridal party attendant.

PJ’S

Can you go wrong with pajamas? Personally, the answer is no. This is the direction I went on my own wedding day! The girls wore pink and white striped button up’s with matching shorts. I had their initials placed on them so they weren’t such a wedding novelty, in hopes they would take them home and really want to wear them again. They all looked adorable. I snagged a pink floral set for myself from Plum Pretty Sugar.

TRACK SUITS

I have to admit that I am still secretly hoping to show up to a wedding where a bridal party rocks Britney Spears inspired track suits to get ready. Winter wedding, anyone? Obviously this could be modernized for a super comfy getting ready outfit. These outfits give lots of flexibility and the zip-up jacket saves your look. Go the athletic route and customize your favorite yoga pants for your favorite people.

SWIM

Call me crazy, but I’ve seen this done a few times and it’s truly adorable. Perhaps you’re having a waterside wedding or celebrating at a destination. Snag suits and trunks for the entire party to enjoy. This will create some amazing photo opportunities poolside, and who doesn’t love that?

STRAPLESS DRESS

Strapless dresses make a great alternative to getting ready gear. These can slip up over your feet and can be planned in a variety of lengths. You can plan for uniformity or allow the girls to pick something they stylistically love. Either way, everyone will look great. Choose these for a Spring wedding and mis-match floral patterns with similar colors.

JERSEYS

Gals or guys, this works both ways! Go with your favorite team or just plan around your color preferences. I can imagine shooting photos of the guys playing touch football in the yard while the girls share a champagne toast inside. For the ladies, I suggest baseball jerseys. Remember-these button up and will ensure you don’t have to pull anything over your beautiful up-do.

OUTERWEAR

I really love this one because it can pop up throughout the day! Consider having a hoodie, cardigan, or jacket made for your crew. It’s ideal if it is something they can wear while getting ready, but equally awesome if they can slip it on later with their gown. This is a great opportunity for Fall or Winter couples to incorporate another statement detail. Consider dressing the entire bridal party in sweaters or jean jackets for a group photo. They’ll be grateful for the stylish layer as the evening progresses!
