TURNING PAGES | MONDAY MEMOS | MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Right now, I am sitting in a sun room that looks out over a pool. It’s private, there are palm trees, and my husband is quietly soaking up the sunshine in a lounge chair. I love mornings like this where I get to focus on writing and reflection.

One of my favorite hobbies is reading. Since I was a kid, I loved the feeling of turning a page. I’m not much for the Kindle experience and much prefer to buy a hard or paper back. While I appreciate Audible and use it often, there is absolutely nothing like flipping through a book.

When I start to pack for vacation, there is always a book on the list. Growing up, it was usually a thriller. Anything from Goosebumps to Choose Your Own Adventure would fill my book bag. I was consumed by the Harry Potter series and lucky enough to grow up with it as it matured. Now, in my “adulthood” (…she says, lightly) I tend to lean toward a memoir or inspirational work. I will alway read anything Gillian Flynn writes, but there is nothing like a good self-help book.

TURN THESE PAGES

Here is a short list of five books that have really inspired me. These are all motivational books with stories from women who are killing it. I love to commit to a chapter a day, or listening to one of these choices over streaming Netflix. These books have reminded me that you cannot underestimate the power of self-love, above all. I hope that you enjoy them, too!

  1. Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis
  2. How To Be A Bawse” by Lilly Singh
  3. Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert
  4. Yes, Please!” by Amy Poehler
  5. You Are A Badasss” by Jin Sincero

Which one are you going to read? <3
