CHARLESTON, WV | WEEKEND WRAP UP | WV SESSIONS | ASHTON KELLEY PHOTOGRAPHY

This weekend was a bit of a hot mess. The weather didn’t cooperate, plans went awry, I forgot my laptop charger (an unfortunate first), and I ended up having to reschedule about half of my intended sessions in WV. It’s always such a bummer to have to postpone events that you’re excited about due to weather. My trip to WV wasn’t a complete loss, though! I did manage to squeeze a few sessions in between downpours. :)

My first was a maternity session. I met Colleen at Kanawha State Forrest and we literally caught about five or ten minutes of sunlight. She and her husband are expecting their second little boy in August. I’m so glad we were able to make this work and I can’t wait to meet their new addition.

The rain stopped late Saturday evening, and we were able to do some fun sparkler sessions after dark. These two couples were so much fun to work with! We spent a couple of hours just talking, laughing, running around with sparklers, and enjoying the cool evening air. I love how work can sometimes feel like hanging out with old friends.

Not only was it SO much fun, but we managed to get some really cool photos as well! A big thank you to the couples who attended these minis. I appreciate the patience it took to accomplish these, and the willingness to run around like crazy for each other. I only wish I had some of it on video to share. It was a VERY entertaining night.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, so I used it to my advantage! Katie and her family were supposed to do photos Friday, but were rescheduled because of rain. Thankfully, we quickly recovered our lost time. I met with them at Sunrise Carriage Trail and got some amazing shots of she and her gorgeous crew.

Lastly, I spent my Sunday helping Andrea Martin Photography with her first large newborn workshop. It was a great way to end a weekend that had been slightly disappointing in the planning department. I always love our workshop events with The Little WV Workshop, and it was awesome to see Andrea in action. Here is a little behind the scenes teaser of Lily, baby one of three that we photographed yesterday. And yes, I am currently experiencing the most intense baby fever!!

I also have to give a special shout out to Melissa Rosic, a past workshop attendee, for the launch of her new venture! She’s now offering handmade photography items for newborns (pictured below) Check out her inventory here and be sure to like her page on Facebook. She included a wrap and headbands for each attendee yesterday in the most adorable gift boxes. Congratulations on your launch of Evie & Charles, Melissa! We are all super proud of you. :)

I realize that a “weekend wrap-up” is a new addition to the blog, so feel free to let me know what you think! I’m always looking for new segments for the website. Until next time!
