POOL PARTY ENGAGEMENT SHOOT | AKP RETREAT | ORLANDO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

To encourage an idea, you have to provide an example. Styled shoots are a great way to give a visual for a concept or theme. There are many ways to elevate your engagement session. You can make simple additions or commit to an entire scheme. This pool party themed engagement session is colorful, romantic, and fun… so many of my favorite elements!

INSPIRATION

LJ of Simply Gorgeous Events by Lara-Jill created the inspiration board for this vibrant session. This shoot took place during the AKP Magical Retreat in Orlando, Florida. Lara-Jill wanted to anchor her design on palms, pineapples, and pool floats. She brought together all of these details to create a backyard dream.

THE LITTLE THINGS

Palms surrounded the pool on site. Lara-Jill made sure to stretch them further by recruiting Dear Macaron to hand paint macarons. Palm leaves also replaced traditional place mats to make a statement on the table-scape. These leaves can also be found in print on the model, added by EAlexDesigns to the invitation suite, and painted onto the cake fondant.

Miniature pineapples stood as an accent by place cards. Various floats and tropical leaves floated in the pool. Personalized floats were piled alongside the water for guests. A bar was set up with drinks, all topped off with palm stirrers. Should there have been any need for help, a “pool boy” chime stood by to be pressed. Hitched Photo Lounge provided their airstream for attendees to enjoy, and who doesn’t love a photo booth?

WARDROBE

It’s not a traditional choice to rock swimwear during your engagement. It is a fun one, though! These two decided to rock colorful suits, which highlighted their vibrant personalities. Wearing waterproof gear also made it easy for them to jump in at the end!

PICTURE PERFECT PLANNING

If you want to add some styled elements to your engagement experience, I am all for it! Whether you want a chic picnic at your favorite park, or to attend a carnival during your session, possibilities are endless. Start planning those little details that will show off your personality as a duo. I always encourage my AKP couples to plan their shoot around what they love. It’s best treated as a date night, and I am always so excited to be the third wheel!
