MARYLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER | MEET PETE

Full disclosure, I never wanted a big dog. My childhood experience led me to really fear them, and adulthood only reinforced it. True story–I was once bitten by a German shepherd at the end of a session for adjusting the “Mom’s” hair. I absolutely continue to work with pets. I have always been a dog lover and will continue to be, but I was scared when Dave started asking for a bull mastiff.

We live in Baltimore City, Maryland in a row home. It’s three floors for the two of us, but less space than this WV girl is used to. I grew up in an area with lots of surrounding land, few real “neighbors,” and being able to leave everything unlocked through the night. Dave often explained that our bull mastiff would offer security. He’s scary big!

Christmas before last, I brought Pete home to Dave as a surprise. As previously mentioned, I was reluctant to gift him this dog and over the months following I would remind him of it. It was a hard transition for me. Time went by, and I realized I had a lot of fun with Pete throughout the day. He is now part of my daily routine and recognizable among followers!

This weekend Dave and I did a “Day out with Pete.” We took him on a car ride, to the dog park, and over to Dogma to get a bath. I don’t typically take my camera to capture things like this, but in this particular instance, I decided to! Here are a few photos of our 1 year old pup, Pete.

Big? Yes. Scary? Not even a little bit. Hope these bring a smile to your Monday!

I felt the same way when we got Winchester, our Goldendoodle. He’s 11 months old, 60 lbs, and can literally stand and give me a hug lol. But now that he is in my life I wouldn’t have it any other way.
