WV STATE CAPITOL | 1:1 MENTORING | PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP | ASHTON KELLEY PHOTOGRAPHY

I recently started offering one on one mentoring and I was so excited when Meg Martin, a past workshop attendee, signed up! We spent a few hours going over ideas for her new business, talking about editing, and covering a few things we’d made mention of at a past workshop. Time was used via her own preference, a plan we had made previously to her appointment to ensure we used her session efficiently.

Each one on one mentoring session includes a styled session. This is typically geared toward the attendee’s specialty so that it works to their advantage as a strong portfolio builder. Meg had chosen children’s photography, so we invited out a pair of siblings to use as our subjects. As we left our sit down space, cozy and dry, we walked out into POURING rain. Even within a few hundred feet from our cars, we were soaked in our attempt to run and get in. With a little luck, on our commute over to the Capitol the rain stopped and we were left with some awesome puddles. Even better? The kids had rain boots!

Needless to say, this was a great learning opportunity being that so often we don’t have ideal weather to shoot in. It just so happens that the most gorgeous sunlight shown through as we started our puddle jumping! Here are a few of my own personal favorites from our styled session. Watch for more from Miss Martin! I’ll be sharing her new links when she launches her fan page and website, soon. :)

Meg,

Thank you for attending a 1:1 and giving me the opportunity to mentor you not once, but twice. I’m so excited to be part of this journey with you and I can’t wait to have you at the Rustic Retreat in August. We are going to have so much fun and you are going to thrive in this industry!! XOXO.

Thank you so much for taking these of my kiddos! LOVE them! 2 questions, is there anyway to share some of the pictures individually via social media? Is there anyway to get some prints of these? We need to update the ones around the house & my husband loved all of these. Thanks!
